 Problem

The Debugging feature of the Export Utility provides detailed information to assist troubleshooting problems.

 Solution

If you are experiencing a problem with getting your export to run successfully the debugging feature of the Export Utility can provide some valuable information to assist with troubleshooting. The debugging feature writes detailed information about the export process to the Debug Logs view of the application which can be reviewed for clues as to why the export is not running as expected.

Enabling Debugging
To enable debugging in the Export Utility follow these steps:
  • Open the Export utility.
  • Click on 'Actions' on the Lotus Notes menu bar then select 'Tools' and then 'Debugging - Enable'.
  • When the enable debugging box is displayed you can choose to enable debugging just for yourself or for all users / servers. If the problem you are experiencing is limited to yourself then select the option to enabling debugging for yourself only. If the problem is being experienced by one or more users or by the Domino server then select the option to enable debugging for all users / servers. Note that the option to enable debugging for all users / servers is only available for administrators of the application.
  • Once debugging has been enabled run your export as you normally do. Note that debugging slows down the performance of the application so the export may take a slightly longer time to run than normal.

Viewing Debug Logs
After the export has run select the 'Debug Logs' option which appears under the 'Logs' heading on the left-hand navigation menu of the application. Review the most recent debug log documents and see if there are any clues as to why the export is not running as expected. If you would like the AGECOM Support team to review your debug logs select one or more log documents in the view then click the 'Send selected logs to AGECOM Support' button at the top of the view.

Disabling Debugging
After the debugging information collection has been completed you should disable debugging.
  • Open the Export utility.
  • Click on 'Actions' on the Lotus Notes menu bar then select 'Tools' and then 'Debugging - Disable'.
  • The application will attempt to determine if debugging is enabled for yourself only or for all users / servers and automatically turn debugging off. If it is unable to determine who debugging is currently enabled for it will prompt you to indicate who debugging should be disabled for.
